Rotholz – some of our practical classes

Our school has many workshops. Especially in wintertime we do a lot of different indoor jobs. We have our classes in the joinery, electrical workshop, forestry, tree nursery, locksmith workshop, pig sty, stable and other places that are connected to our school.
Some work we did in the last months are for example:

• welding - spot welding, seam welding; at the beginning it turned out to be quite difficult
• animal health – one of our main topics in the last classes was taking care of the calves
• cow styling – making the best out of a cow for a competition or an auction
• cowshed – safety arrangements
• chainsaw – daily and weekly care that is necessary, sharpening the chain, cleaning the starter
• toolbox – we made our own toolbox out of wood
• herbarium – collecting, pressing and naming 62 plants from our region
• shaping in lathe – learning to turn and turning a wooden bowl

In autumn we did some work on the alpine pasture, we harvested hay, pumpkins and potatoes.
Some of us even made their own crib for Christmas. We finished it just in time to take it with us in our Christmas holidays.
